Meet the Artist
Annie Nishwani Lachhman (she/her) is a mid-aged, Disabled artist of Guyanese descent and an Indo-Caribbean woman of color living with cerebral palsy. As a passionate advocate for accessibility, inclusivity, and Disability Pride, Annie's artistic journey is driven by her desire to create visibility and representation for the Disability Community, especially for marginalized groups within it. Her designs are heartfelt tributes to the diverse experiences of people with disabilities, beautifully intertwining art with advocacy. “Making art is my voice, it allows me to create new things, share what I have learned, and self-advocate," says Annie. Her work, including pins and cards, celebrates Disability Pride, resilience, and the community's vibrant diversity, each piece telling a story of progress, inclusion, and hope. Color Meanings of Disability Pride Flag
● Green: Sensory & Perception Disabilities - representing disabilities that affect the senses, such as vision, hearing, touch, smell, or taste.
● Blue: Psychiatric Disabilities - symbolizing disabilities that affect mood, emotion, thoughts, and behavior.
