for "Shining a Light For Others"

We're all dressed up nicely with huge smiles at Gracie Mansion's outdoor gardens at sunset.

Every year during the celebrations of Disability Pride month in July, the Mayor’s Office presents the Sapolin Awards to individuals and organizations that are actively working towards the wellbeing and inclusion for people with disabilities in New York City. This year at the celebrations of the Americans with Disabilities 32nd anniversary our work at www.accessibletravelnyc.com was recognized and received the Public Accommodations Award from Mayor Eric Adams and Acting Commissioner Martha Jackson. We’re tremendously humbled to receive this honor knowing our work positively impacts the Disabled Community by showcasing positive Disability Representation & Accessibility within the travel and tourism industry.

On a stage Kim Hill, Emily Ladau and myself holding our certificates. Several govt officials behind us including Mayor Adams.

Accessible Travel NYC was created during one of the darkest times in our families lives so to receive this honor of “shining a light for others” is extremely meaningful. A huge shout out to our family, especially my sister Annie, for their unwavering support as we seek out joys to heal ourselves around our beloved New York City and share it for other people with disabilities to see themselves represented.

Accessible Travel NYC is award the Sapolin Award for ADA 32!

We recognize our privilege of living in New York City, a city where much of the world converges to create this unique energy that is palpable and vibrant in a myriad of ways for an immersive experience of world-class Art & Culture, Sightseeing & Dining. We also recognize our privilege of having the financial means and connections to be able to enjoy our day-cations around the city. Please know that we’re planning ways for local families like ours to be able to enjoy these day-cations, too. More to come on that front, progress is slow but steady.

Thanks to Peter Slatin for his nomination of our work for this award.

Our hearts are brimming with joy for the recognition and support. ♥️
